£250 raised for Daft as a Brush
It was in 2008 that the Lions and Rotary Clubs of Morpeth started meeting up from time to time. Most closely when dealing with the aftermath of the town’s floods but subsequently when street collections for a common purpose requiring many hands on the streets became more manageable.
Additionally there are social/fundraising events when each Club’s members enjoy joint support. These include an Annual Quiz and also a joint meal. This year’s meal was hosted by the Lions Club and recently took place at the Manzil Indian Restaurant. As well as the meal there was a quiz and a raffle.
Richard Nash, the President of the Lions Club of Morpeth, welcomed all present saying ‘It is always a happy time when we all come together. I am grateful to the Manager and staff of Manzil for getting us off to a good start with an excellent meal. Thank you too to the quiz setters who got our ‘grey matter’ into gear.
I am pleased to announce that as a result of everyone’s generosity tonight, the sum of £254 has been raised by our joint efforts and that this will be donated to a charity that gives great service to cancer patients in Morpeth and throughout Northumberland – Daft as a Brush.’
